An Interview with Amazing Race Timing (ART)
We are excited about supporting the Luray International Triathlon and Luray Sprint Triathlon! Multi-day events have a festival feel to them, which creates an exciting atmosphere for the participants and spectators. Being held in the Shenandoah Valley, the Luray course is both picturesque and challenging for participants.
Triathlons create challenges not present at other racing events like runs, as participants not only want accurate finish times but want accurate swim, T1, bike, T2 and run times.
ART uses ChronoTrack equipment, which is the leader in RFID chip timing equipment, and has become the standard by which all other systems are compared. In 2013, ChronoTrack timed the New York Marathon (the largest marathon ever) and the Marine Corps Marathon in DC. We have been using ChronoTrack in races of all sizes for several years and are very pleased with the results.
At Luray, participants can enter their bib number at our results kiosk receive a receipt-style print out of their overall and split times…and we won’t forget to bring our misting tent!
This year, we will time and rank the athletes against other participants who finish both the Saturday and Sunday races – the “Devil’s Double.”
Members of the Amazing Race Timing team have already met with Luray staff and will continue to coordinate with them leading up to the event. ART will also be attending the mid-March race planning meeting in Luray, which will be a great opportunity to meet with the local community we well.
Again, we are very excited to support this outstanding event!
And we are very excited to have ART at Luray Triathlon!
