Registration for 2015 opens this Thursday, October 16 at 8 AM. Race dates will be:

There are a limited number of discounted entries available for the first 25 athletes to sign up in each race.

I also have some exciting news to share, but first a little context.

Back in 2005, I approached the Town of Luray with the idea of putting on a triathlon the following year. The first question I had to answer was, “What’s a triathlon?”

Flash forward to 2014. The Luray Triathlon is a well-established event that attracts more than 2,000 triathletes and their supporters to Luray for the weekend. Picked by Competitor Magazine as the Best Triathlon in the Mid-Atlantic in 2013, more than 98% of our athletes would recommend the race to a friend. The Luray Sprint will also be the USA Triathlon Mid-Atlantic Regional Sprint Distance Championship race in 2015 and 2016.

As some of you may know, I moved from Northern Virginia to Boulder, Colorado in 2010. Last month, I also began a new career with Edward Jones as a financial advisor.

Consequently, I, along with a few of our Luray partners, have been interviewing candidates to take over management of the triathlon with the primary goals to find someone who would both continue our legacy of an outstanding race as well as further the triathlon’s already strong relationship with the community.

As such, I’d like to introduce Ken Racine of Racine MultiSports as the new race director for the Luray Triathlon. Ken is a full-time event director from Williamsport, Maryland, who manages more than 50 events annually. He brings a ton of experience and energy to the table, and he has already made several trips to Luray to meet with some of our key Luray partners.

I will be working closely with Ken over the next few months to successfully transfer the race with the goal to make 2015 our best year yet.

Thank you for choosing Luray Triathlon,

David Glover
