Each year in appreciation for the support of the local Luray and Page County communities in hosting our event, the triathlon donates a portion of the race proceeds to benefit the local Luray and Page Valley communities.

Triathlons Donations by Year

Here are examples of how the Luray Triathlon has given directly back to the community each year.
The 2014 Triathlon spent more than $33,000 hiring local staff and donating to community organizations including the United Way of Page County, Luray Rescue, Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Company, Stanley Rescue, Luray High School, Page County High School and Luray Parks & Rec Department. Through generous sponsor donations, we were able to purchase two standup paddle boards and a canoe for Lake Arrowhead Park and buy a moon bounce for the children of Luray. Special thanks to our main sponsors: County of PageHanson Periodontics, Deloitte, Luray Caverns and White+Partners.
The 2013 Triathlon raised and donated more than $26,000 for local community organizations including nearly $15,000 for the United Way of Page County. Other groups we donated money to include: Luray Rescue, Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Company, Stanley Rescue, Luray Little League, Luray High School, Page County High School and Luray Parks & Rec Department. Through generous sponsor donations, we were able to install Wi-Fi at Lake Arrowhead Park and buy a new Jon boat for the park in memory of our friend, James “Spading” Buracker. Special thanks to our main sponsors: Hanson Periodontics, Deloitte, Luray Caverns and White+Partners.
The 2012 Triathlon raised and donated more than $25,000 for local community organizations including $15,000 for the United Way of Page County. Other organizations include: Luray Rescue, Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Company, Stanley Rescue, Relay for Life  and Luray Parks & Recreation Department to include special donations to purchase new sinks and tile for the bathrooms at Lake Arrowhead Park plus 3 new rescue paddle boards for the lifeguards. The 2011 Triathlon raised and donated nearly $11,000 to the United Way of Page County with an additional $8,000 going to other community organizations including: Luray Rescue, Shenandoah Volunteer Rescue Squad, Stanley Rescue, Relay for Life, Luray Downtown Initiative and Luray Parks & Recreation Department plus special donations of $1,000 for the Hawksbill Greenway Foundation and $1,000 to purchase a used boat for use by park staff at Lake Arrowhead.
The 2010 Triathlon donated more than $10,000 to the United Way of Page County with an additional $8,000 going to other community organizations including: Luray Downtown Initiative, Luray Volunteer Rescue, Shenandoah VolunteerFire Company, Stanley Rescue, Relay for Life, and Luray Parks & Recreation Department.
The 2009 Triathlon donated more than $10,000 to the United Way of Page County with an additional $8,000 going to other community organizations including: Luray Downtown Initiative, Luray Volunteer Rescue, Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Company, Relay for Life and Luray Parks & Recreation Department.
The 2008 Triathlon donated more than $8,000 to community organizations in addition to a special $1,000 donation to help fund a new skate park for kids in Luray.
The 2007 Triathlon donated more than $4,000 to Choices, Council on Domestic Violence for Page County, Inc. in addition to Luray Downtown Initiative, Luray Volunteer Rescue, Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Company, Relay for Life and Luray Parks & Recreation Department.

Our Partner Charity, the United Way of Page County

The United Way of Page County is the primary beneficiary of the Luray Triathlon. We selected them because 100% of the funds raised by the local chapter go directly back into the community to benefit the the 10 non-profit community organizations that they support.  Plus, United Way provides most of our volunteers on race weekend.
