Wow, what an exciting race weekend!  You inspire.

With our new prize purse of $5,000, we saw our most competitive field ever as more than 20 elite and top amateur athletes raced head to head for the top 3 overall each day.

We also had 65 athletes complete the “Devil’s Double” presented by Devils Backbone Brewing Company.  These athletes earned a hand-engraved beer glass by completing both races as individuals on race weekend.

Luray Triathlon 2014 Swim Waves

Below are the swim wave assignments for the Luray International and Sprint Triathlons this weekend.

Please note: Participants will compete in whichever age group they would be in as of Dec. 31st, 2014. In other words, your age group for the Luray Triathlon will be determined by your age on December 31st, 2014.

Once online registration closes, you can still register in person at each race’s packet pickup times for that race. Please see the Weekend Schedule for packet pickup times and locations.

You can now download the Luray Triathlon 2014 athlete guide (Version 2) by clicking on the image below. Please note that this version was updated on 8/12 with corrections for Friday packet pickup times (4:30 PM to 7 PM) and Athena (165+ lbs) / Clydesdale (220+ lbs) weight minimums.

Please be sure to also download and review USA Triathlon’s Commonly Violated Rules and Penalties.


Meet visually impaired triathlete Doug Powell

If you’ve raced at Luray Triathlon in the past 3 or 4 years, you may have noticed an athlete wearing a Team Z jersey on the course riding a tandem bicycle or running with a guide. Meet triathlete Doug Powell.

Doug has a degenerative eye disease that has resulted in the loss of most of his vision. I can’t imagine attempting a triathlon with its swim, bike and run without being able to see. Wow!

Join us for Taste of Page County dinner on Saturday, August 16

Savor the flavors of Page County with a special “farm to table” meal catered by Page County Grown and the Mimslyn Inn at Performing Arts Luray.

The dinner will feature beef BBQ, potatoes and fresh seasonal vegetables from local Page County farms. Award winning beer from Devils Backbone Brewing Company will be available and there will be live entertainment by Acoustic Thunder.

Pro triathlete Steve Rosinski to race at Luray Triathlon

Welcome pro triathlete Steve Rosinski from Charlottesville, VA, to the Luray Triathlon! Not only is Steve a pro triathlete, but he’s also a full-time Doctor of Optometry. Wow!

Steve’s triathlon career began while at Ohio State where he finished 8th in the 2010 Collegiate National Championships. Upon graduating in 2011 with his Doctorate, Steve made the decision to dedicate himself more to his training and racing and in doing so earned his Elite Triathlete license within the year.

Pre-Race swim clinic & practice at Lake Arrowhead on August 9th

Luray International is more than half full…

Luray International is more than half full of our 700 athlete capacity. We do expect the race to sell out again this year.

There are also a limited number (50) of charity slots available. Charity slots cost $200 for an individual athlete.  For each community slot, we will donate $150 to United Way of Page County, our primary charity, which also helps provide many of our volunteers on race weekend.
